The recent tweets by Trump have fired up everyone on social media, news outlets, and in political rallies for better or for worse. Trump tweeted: “Why don’t they go back and help fix the broken and crime-infested places from which they came. Then come back and show us how it is done; These places need your help badly, you can’t leave fast enough. I’m sure that Nancy Pelosi would be very happy to quickly work out free travel arrangements!”
Insisting that the congresswomen were not American because of their races. Even though all the women but one, Ilhan Omar, are American born citizens. They according to Trump “are destroying the Democratic Party”, but how are these women destroying the country when they are doing nothing more than protecting its citizens. When we clump together immigrants with race, we create this false bubble that the only people “stealing our jobs” are people of color. When many immigrants are in fact, White. I live in Detroit; we have numerous immigrants from Mexico to the Middle East. Yet I live in the biggest bubble of European immigrants. People from Poland, France, Germany, and England. Where I work part-time I run into numerous of White immigrants. The problem in our country isn’t immigrants, these are people just trying to live a life in a country they choose.
At the rally last Wednesday night in North Caroline, the attendees were chanting “send her back”. Ignoring the chant Trump continued his speech, while on Thursday he said he “tried to stop it”. In which he will try to, in the future, prevent the hate speech. It’s only time that will tell if Trump will make his bigotry to win his election. If the Democratic party nominates a white man to run for president, Trump won’t be able to use race or religion as a platform. Building a platform on anti-immigration and Pro-white and Pro-Christian will still mark his main demographics as it did for the 2016 elections. It wasn’t his bigotry remarks that landed him his votes, about one-third of those who voted for him were middle-class people are pro-immigration, anti-gun laws were known to be accepting of race and religion. Yet they voted for him because they saw him leading this country out of the economic turmoil it is in. It isn’t Trump’s fault our country has problems, let us give him that, but he used our problems to get into office.
These congresswomen represent our future, not because they are women or women of color or women of different religions. They represent a positive future because they are making the congressmen and women accountable for their actions. I think it is wonderful these women have not fallen into the trap most politicians fall into when they get positions of power. Each woman has maintained her outlook and has changed her ideas as most politicians do. This is why these women are dangerous because they aren’t settling. As Americans, we need not settle either. The rise in nationalism in the Western World is scary. We are seeing Muslim placed in camps and their rights taken away. Jews are being attacked, again. Honestly, we can judge how crappy our country is getting based on how Jews are treated in a particular Western country. Women of all spectrums are having their rights stripped.
YouTube and Facebook are known to promote hate-mongering rhetoric. Building more ignorant racists from all communities, not just from white ones. Our young nation is built on the blood of our ancestors, from the blood sweat tears of slaves, natives, and immigrants. We could be a great nation, it isn’t about making America Great again it is about making America a great place now. The people who vote against health care, gun control, education, etc are only hurting themselves by giving the power back to the 1%. The power that many of our Great Great grandfathers (mothers) fought so hard to get. It is laughable to think that a poor white town is pissed that there are people of color fighting for their very own white rights. The angrier these people get the more they strip their rights just to get back at the other guy. This is idiocracy, these people rather be poor, die early, and unhealthy than allow black women equality. I come from one such small town, I’ve seen these people struggle on the daily bases. Even though I left, I still struggle with money and mental health. Life is hard, but it could be easier if we had an affordable education and better health care. We shouldn’t have to work three jobs just to make a living.
When a leader uses hatred to win. We must fight back, leaders like Hitler (sorry he’s just a great example) used fear and hatred to gain control. They use people’s fears, insecurities, and ignorance to gain power. When they have this power, they will take it away from the people. We must not allow the fear-mongering to win, even though we feel like giving up. This election will be important for all of us to go out and vote as we did for Obama. We must vote like we did to elect the congresswomen into office, we must prevent this bigotry and ignorance from spreading.
